About Me

My name is Nick Lopez and I want to thank you for your interest in my work. I am a self-taught photographer that specializes mostly in travel and landscape photos. Though I will shoot any person, place, animal, and think I find beautiful or visually interesting. I was born in the east coast and raised in the west. I currently reside in the beautiful and sunny Phoenix, Arizona. I work full time as a video editor while simultaneously running my own small pop art business. I consider myself very fortunate that I have the ability to pursue my passions while maintaining a fairly comfortable lifestyle.

I've always enjoyed taking pictures. Whether with my old Sony point-n-shoot or one of those cheap disposable cameras you had to wind between shots. But I began my serious relationship with photography back in 2013. I was on a Christmas trip in California when I got my first Canon DSLR. It was a tiny Rebel T3 and I carried that camera with me the entire winter. I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I loved it nonetheless.

I decided to continued down that path and improve my craft. I started by teaching myself basic photography fundamentals. Concepts like composition, exposure, focus. I read countless books, spent hours on research, attended lectures by industry experts, and watched a TON of Youtube videos. However the greatest teacher was the camera itself. Simply going out and shooting. Spending day after day looking for something beautiful to photograph. Sunset, flowers, animals in the local zoo. I shot it all. In time, I built up my abilities and started trying more challenging techniques. Things like star trails, panoramas, light painting, and long exposure shots.

These days I'm pretty confident in my abilities, but there's always room to grow. I know I'm not the most knowledgeable photographer you'll meet. I can't tell you what the best camera is or how to calculate the perfect f-stop for your lens. But at the end of the day, I believe that passion is far more important than any formal technical education.

Film & Video Editing

From a young age, I've always had a strong interest in anything film related. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Film & Media Studies from Arizona State University as well as a Master's Degree in Liberal Studies.

The third love of my life is travel. So far I've crisscrossed the United States many times and I've visited Europe on several occasions. No matter how much traveling I do, I still have an insatiable desire to see more of this beautiful world.
